The Freckled Chestnut Mushroom looks incredible and tastes even better! These mushrooms grow in tightly packed bunches and develop long stems with caps colored a deep rust-orange with white flecks.
These flecks are the remnants of a thin veil that grows over the cap during development which then breaks apart but remains stuck as the mushroom matures, giving the Chestnuts their amazing appearance.
Chestnuts are tricker to grow than other species because they need very high humidity to initiate pinning.
